Arrive in Lhasa

Arrive in the holy city of Lhasa, capital of the mystical Buddhist Kingdom of Tibet. You are greeted by tour guide at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure for you to relax and adjust to the high altitude.

Sightseeing in Lhasa city

Tour starts from the religious Potala Palace(3700m) built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king-Songtzen Gampo. The present one was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century. It became known as the "Winter Palace" by the 1750, when the 7th Dalai Lama built the Norbulingka Park as his summer residence. After lunch, you will visit Jokhang Temple, situated in the old section of Lhasa. King Songtzen Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century A.D. Now it is the most sacred place in Tibet. Pilgrims come here to pay homage from all over Tibet. Visit Barkhore Street later. Overnight in Lhasa.

Sightseeing in Lhasa city


Norbulingka Park
Norbulingka Park

Full day sightseeing takes you to Drepung Monastery which is the largest of the monastery of the Gelug Sect in Tibet. After that, you will visit Norbulingka Park. In 1752, the 7th Dalai Lama built the first palace here for successive Dalai Lamas to carry out their political and religious activities during the summer season. Today Norbulingka has become a public park for picnicking, relaxing and entertainment.


Day 4

Lhasa-Samye Monastery-Tsedang


Take the ferry with local Tibetans to visit the Samye Monastery which is believed to be the first Monastery in Tibet with a history of over 1,200 years. overnight in Tsetang.


Day 5

Dramtruk Monastery, Yongbulakang Palace-Lhasa


Morning drive to Tsetang(3515m), visit the Yumbulakang Palace and the Trandruk Monastery. Travel to the bank of Yarlung Tsangpo River by car. Then take the ferry with local Tibetans to visit the Samye Monastery which is believed to be the first Monastery in Tibet with a history of over 1,200 years.


Day 6

Lhasa to Gyantse (260km)6hrs


Drive to Gyantse after breakfast. On the way, dazzling Yamdrok-tso Lake (4441m)can be seen from the summit of the Kamba-la pass(4794m). Yamdrok is one of Three Holy Lake in Tibet. When you arrive at Gyantse, visit Pelkor Chode Monastery. The Monastery is founded in 1418, notable for its superb Kumbum Chode(10,000 Images Stupa)(4040m). Overnight Gyantse Hotel .


Day 7

Gyantse to Shigatse (90km)2hrs


After breakfast, drive to Shigatse, visit the Bachen Lama palace - Tanshilunpo Monastery. Overnight in Shigatse .


Day 8

Shigatse / Sakya / Lhatse (150km)3hrs


Morning drive to Sakya, visit Sakya Monastery, which is the main monastery at Sakyapa, hike around the monastery northern ruins. Late afternoon drive to Lhatse. Overnight at Lhatse.


Day 9

Lhatse to Saga (280km)6hrs


Today drive from Lhatse to Saga, pass several high plateau lakes, towns, herders tents and along the route with plateau mountain ranges. Overnight in Guesthouse at Saga.


Day 10

Saga to Paryang(170km)5hrs


Taking another 255km drive from Saga to Paryang, you weave your way through small dusty town of Zhongba amidst enchanting panoramic views. Overnight at Paryang(Guest house, dorm bed).


Day 11

Paryang to Lake Manasarovar


The route is a pleasant about four-hour drive, passing through yellow steppe with snowcapped Himalayan peaks off to the south when the weather is clear.there is a check-point along the way,where you must show your passport and permits. Then MAYUM-LA PASS(5216m) which is the frointer between west Tibet(shigatse prefecture) and far west tibet(ali). On the way you can see and experience the life of nomads and see the beatiful grass land of far west tibet. Magical mount Kailash comes into view approximately 90km after the Mayum-la just before the town of HOR QU. You can stay a night in horqu or you can camp at the beautiful lake shore.

Note: you have to buy entry ticket for the Manasarovar lake about 80Y per person and also have to pay about 20Y per night in the lake shore.Overnight at Guesthouse.


Day 12

Lake Manasarovar / Darchen


Manasarovara is the lake of compassion, tranquility and bliss. After completing the memorable morning Bath and Puja you will be heading towards Darchen, prepare for trekking. Overnight at Darchen (Guest house, dorm bed).


Day 13

Darchen to Drirapuk 11km Overnight Guesthouse & Camp (4860m)


Triditionallya pilgrim undertakes 52 km trekking circuit around mount Kailash commencing at Darchen(4574m) and crossing the Dolma-la pass on the second day of the three day walk.Darchen is the starting and completion point for the general circuit of the sacred mount. A few kilometers after leaving Darchen, there is a valley called Sarshung where porters are waiting for their clients. They will help the client to take every necessary things on yaks and horses. After two hours, you came upon a grassy plain with populated by nomads. There you can refresh yourself in nomadic tent by drinking some soft drinks there. For this turn in the valley it is another two hours at least before reaching Drirapuk(4920m).


Day 14

Dera Phuk Gomba to Zutul Phuk Overnight at Guesthouse & Camp (4750m)


After taking a rest on the peak of Dolma-la pass, you will decend staircase brings you to Lhachu valley floor, about one hour from the pass. From here it is still four hours trekking to the day final destination with no shelters in between. It is better to walk on the rightside of the river and finally reached to Dzultripuk(miracle cave of milarepa). It is advised you to get there before than other groups because of limitted number of rooms available there in Dzultripuk. Take a good rest in the guest room and prepare for next mornings departure.


Day 15

Finish trek and drive to Tirtha Puri

TirthaPuri to Guge Kingdom Overnight Guesthouse




Day 17

Guge Kingdom to Tirthapuri Overnight Guesthouse


Go to visit the sunrise in Guge. Drive to visit Guge Kingdom Ruins and then back to Zanda and rest.
The Guge Kingdom was founded in about the 10th century by a descendant of King Lang Darma, who fled from Lhasa after the collapse of the Tubo Kingdom. The kingdom played an important role in the second renascence in Tibet and survived for about 700 years before disappearing mysteriously in the 17th century.
